We are in full on summer mode here at Hazel & Deene--which means we have an itch to host in the warm summer nights of this summer! A dinner party is an intimate and casual way to entertain your friends while feeling like you're doing more than just meeting them for dinner at your favorite local restaurant.
We LOVE a good dinner party! Mostly because you can have yummy food, but also because there is nothing like a beautiful tablescape to get our hostess hearts beating fast! We've compiled both ethereal images along with helpful tips for your hosting pleasure! Get ready for breathtaking inspiration for your next dinner party tablescape!
1. Center Pieces.
Now don't worry, we're not talking about your usual (often boring) fruit basket center piece here. Center pieces were made to fill a blank space in the middle of your table, yes, but they do not have to be just a filler! Make them an "ooo" and "ahh" kind of piece by bringing in different elements. Utilize those candle sticks, grab a bundle of that beautiful eucalyptus from your nearest florist, snag a few pieces of fruit from the market, and some votive glasses with water and a few buds of whatever is in season and you've got the makings for a centerpiece that is both filler and breathtaking!
2. Texture, Texture, and more Texture.
Whether you want to keep it simple or go all out, texture is SO important for a put-together tablescape! We tend to have a flare for the dramatic so we love layering our textures--a simple table cloth with some kind of base layer texture to it, a table runner or piece of left over wrapping paper with some kind of print (WE LOVE STRIPES!), a unique charger, simple plates, napkins with a pop, etc! Keep in mind that you can bring in even more texture with your cutlery and dishware, too!
The best tip of all is one that will make your guests feel so appreciated and cared for: Personalization! Personalize each place setting with a name card, individual dinner item or menu, or a thank you favor! You're guests will love feeling specifically thought about and it is usually the perfect addition to really tie in the tablescape as a whole! (Psst, this is another great place to bring in texture too!)
Okay, now for the main event! Check out how some of our favorite go-to tips have been put into practice!
