When most businesses produce a product or source their supplies, they do so only from a cost analysis perspective. Mechanization and increased efficiency are illusive and sought after goals for many companies. When we produce a product or source supplies, we do so with our quadruple bottom line in mind.
This means that the most efficient way to make a product or the fastest production methods are not always our choice. Often in a developing economy, labor is the most plentiful resource. Jobs for those laborers are not as plentiful.
Our Tori Bracelet is pieced together by hand. While a brilliant engineer could no doubt develop a machine to do the same process, we often times advocate for the hand process to create and sustain jobs.
We believe in introducing new technology, but also believe in protecting the beautiful handmade processes that preserve employment for so many.
